Lizzie May was the second of Luke Powell's sailing boats he designed and built, following on from Eve. Bigger, faster and more elegant, this second boat was a different beast entirely and proved herself as a fast and weatherly vessel, easily managed by 2 experienced crew and with superb lines. Planked in Larch, all bronze screw fastened. 8 berths in total, 2012 Vetus 42hp diesel. Commercial code ticket until recently, could be easily reinstated. The last remaining Windermere 19 of only 6 built originally. Built on Lake Windermere in 1928, she raced until 1934 when the class was abandoned. Sold by Wooden Ships to the present owner in 2005, she had a major rebuild which included lots of structural work to the hull, a new deck and complete new rig. Now rigged as a bermudan sloop on Collars spruce spars. Outboard engine on a side bracket when required. A beautiful looking boat with superb performance in very nice condition. Complete with a road trailer and all over cover.

His boats were designed to have a large internal volume for their length, shallow draft with a centreplate for creek crawling and a large comfortable cockpit. Built in 2003, the concept was for a classic looking yacht with modern performance. The underwater lines of the Mini Transat were used to develop a very slippy and responsive hull yet with the looks and feel of a traditional gaff cutter. Traditionally built in larch on oak with all varnished teak coamings, solid yacht laid 1/4 sawn larch deck. Basic interior with 2 berths. Beta Marine 14hp diesel gives 7 knots. Fin type keel with a lead bulb can be retracted to reduce draft to less than 2', telescopic rudder to match. Will beat anything in light airs. Recent survey has highlighted some areas of work so price has been reduced for a quick sale
