Deben Cherub
£SOLD
The 6th example of 17 boats built by Eversons Boatyard, launched in 1931. Major professional rebuild in 2020 for the current owner, she is now on of 5 Deben Cherubs afloat on the river Deben with a resurgence of the once competitive racing. The hull was repaired as necessary, deck structure was replaced entirely, a new interior fitted along with a new inboard engine. According to the yard she is the ‘finest example of a Deben cherub anywhere’ which is high praise indeed. Designed by John Alden, built in the UK by Halmatic with a GRP moulded hull and decks. Varnished teak cockpit and coachroof with a laid teak deck. Major refit in early 2000's with new rig, systems and interior overhaul. More recently painted and varnished by Berthon. The generous beam of this design gives a huge internal volume for the length compared to many UK designs of the same period. The large cockpit with enclosed cockpit tent and cavernous interior make them an excellent cruising yacht. The rig is easily handled, aided by a pair of electric Anderson winches, and the shallow draft of only 4' with the centreboard up allows access to areas other similar size boats cannot go.

Itchen Ferry Gaff Cutter
£SOLD
Designed by the great Daniel 'King Dan' Hatcher and built in 1890, Freda has had an illustrious career both fishing in the Solent and racing in the summer regattas. Her first 2 owners were great victorian big yacht captains, well known for reaping hoards of trophies on their larger yachts, and used Freda for Solent racing to hone their skills. Unlike many other Itchen Ferry boats, she has retained much of her original charm and still has her original half decked layout with the lower fish deck aft. Finished to working boat standards with tarred rigging and painted decks, she is a historically significant little vessel with a wicked turn of speed.
