Wooden Ships Comments on this 46′ Sylvia Yacht Yard Twin Screw Motor Yacht
46’ twin screw motor yacht designed and built by Sylvia Yacht Yard, East Cowes in 1948.
An elegant motor yacht that went through a significant refit in 2020. This included all new wiring, largely new interior joinery, major engine overhaul and a new teak deck.
Good quality Ford 6cyl diesel engines that have been overhauled and are running very well. The start cleanly and offer economic motoring at 8 knots.
5 berths including a large double in the cabin, a single guest cabin and 2 single berths in the forward area.
Spacious deck saloon with excellent headroom offering a large table with seating around it.
A superb feature is the outside helm position at the aft end of the wheelhouse, a great spot when making passage in fine weather, and especially for berthing in a tight spot where the view from the aft deck all around is excellent.
A nice looking motor yacht with a well documented recent refit history.
2022 survey available.

General Description
Much of the interior joinery was replaced in the 2020 refit after the hull was stripped out for repairs. The joinery is varnished mahogany.
Sliding companion door into the wheelhouse either side. Wheelhouse has the helm position at the forward end with the aft end laid out as a deck saloon. Large table with L-shaped seating around it. Excellent visibility all round from the wheelhouse deck saloon.
Starboard side steps go down to the forward accommodation with the galley to port and a chart desk to starboard.
The whole of this forward area has been left open plan with 2 single settee berths in a V formation right in the bows. Custom made V-shaped table drops in when required.
Originally this area had a small guest cabin and could easily be reinstated if the next owner wished for more separate sleeping cabins.
Port side companion steps down from the wheelhouse into the aft accommodation areas. Small door into the engine space at the base of the steps.
Starboard side guest cabin with a sliding door. Berth set fairly high with drawer storage beneath. Full height wardrobe style locker and a lower locker in original joinery.

Central passageway going to the aft cabin. This cabin stretches the full breadth of the hull with a large central double berth and lots of storage lockers in varnished mahogany joinery. Stainless hand basin with pressurised hot water set in a varnished worktop in the forward corner.
The double berth has a vast storage space beneath it, plus one of the 4 plastic water tanks.
