East Coast fishing boat inspired vessel designed by Peter Brown and built by the owner. The build started in 1984 with completion and launch in 2024.
The owner had built a couple of smaller boats prior to this but with the purchase of a large shed and the existing Sudbourne Sawmill he decided the time was right to build his dream.
Every piece of timber was chose very carefully with the owner willing to wait at each stage for the right timber rather than rushing ahead with lesser quality materials. Every bit of the boat has been put together by the owner along with hand made door catches and fixings in bronze.
A lovely looking vessel with an excellent sea going hull, wide open deck space and a small pillar box wheelhouse. Perfect for coastal fishing trips and family adventures, she is more than capable of coastal passages.

Construction
Hull
Clinker planked in hand picked ¾” larch all copper rivet fastened to steam bent oak timbers. Timbers around the aft bilge where the turn is very tight have been laminated and fastened through with bronze bolts, a small indication of the time and care that has gone into this build.
Oak stem, stem knees and keel with an iroko transom. Copper centreline bolts. Sacrificial Greenheart keel shoe fitted.
Small oak bilge keels fastened through with bronze bolts.
Sawn oak floors across the centreline fastened through with copper rivets.
Heavy section laminated oak frame midships giving a lot of strength to the hull in place of a higher level thwart.
Large section larch bilge string and riser higher up all copper rivet fastened add terrific strength to the hull.
Oak gunwales and wych elm capping rails all round fastened through with copper rivets.
Oak sampson posts on each quarter and the bows.
Slatted larch seating either side in the bows with a small seat in each aft quarter.
Decks
High grade Finnish plywood used for the cockpit sole boards on machined sole bearers.
Aft deck in plywood sheathed in GRP with a large storage locker beneath.
Superstructure
Pillar box type wheelhouse with an oak frame with panelling in cyprus macna carpa pine with an oak wheelhouse door.
Machinery
Engine
Ford Dorset 6cyl 102hp marine diesel. Flexibly mounted to large oregon pine engine beds spreading the forces over a large proportion of the hull.
PRM500 gearbox to a 3 blade 20“ bronze propeller with a bronze prop shaft and Timken Quick-Flex shaft coupling. Stern tube fitted with a traditional stuffing box with a remote greaser.
6 knots economic cruising speed. Possible 9 knots when required.
Tanks
44 litres of fuel in 2 x welded plastic tanks under the aft deck.
Batteries and Electrics
2 x 12 volt batteries charged from the engine alternator with a Victron split charge diode. 100ah and 95ah respectively.
Solar panel with a charge regulator.
Steering system
Solid oak rudder with bronze hangings. Vetus manual hydraulic wheel steering system. Emergency ash tiller with a tiller aperture through the transom.
