Ormidale Class motor yacht designed by John Bain and built by James A. Silver Ltd, Rosneath in 1964.
The Ormidale was one of the flagship classes for the Silvers yard, a great size of yacht that offered numerous sleeping cabins, good deck space, good cruising range and sea keeping yet in a manageable sized yacht. These are well proportioned, practical and elegant looking yachts.
Although she had some significant work under a previous owner in Scotland, the boat has been laid up afloat for a few years and is now considered a project.
Around 2016/2017 the vessel was surveyed and problems identified. A professional yard carried out repairs including a new transom, some planking replacement and a new top to the stem. In 2017 the boat was surveyed again and a copy of this report is available showing the condition of the vessel at that point.
The current owner will commission the engines and can move her to a nearby location, possibly Ramsgate, in order for a buyer to have an out of water survey carried out should they so wish.

Construction
Hull
Carvel planked in mahogany above the waterline, teak below. All copper rivet fastened to steam bent oak timbers.
2016/17 she had a new transom and various areas of planking replaced.
Skeg mounted plate bronze centreline rudder.
Decks and Cockpit
Solid straight laid teak deck of 1.5/8” thickness screw fastened to the deck beams. Seams caulked and payed with butyl rubber.
Large aft deck perfect for entertaining covered with a sun awning canopy on a stainless steel frame. Large teak aft deck table bolted down.
Original painted iron stanchions all round with a teak capping rail.
Superstructure
Teak superstructure in the usual Ormidale style with large windows in the forward coachroof giving excellent light into the deck saloon.
Wheelhouse set higher to give good visibility when at the helm, typical curved back to the wheelhouse is a telltale feature of the Ormidale outline.
Machinery
Engines
2 x Gardner 6LX 127hp 6cyl diesels.
Gardner 2UC mechanical gearboxes to handed 3 blade bronze propellers.
8 knots cruising speed at 15 litres/hour. 800Nm range.
Tanks
1800 litres of diesel in 2 mild steel tanks
1500 litres of water in 2 mild steel tanks.
Black water waste tank new 2017.
Batteries and Electrics
The electrical systems and batteries will likely need a major overhaul.

Vosper Minifin stabiliser system – needs attention.

Berths
7 berths including double owners cabin, twin guest cabin, single guest cabin and a 2 berth forecabin.
General Description
Starboard steps from the wheelhouse into the deck saloon which offers a large open and light space. Centreline steps going into the aft area which has the usual Ormidale layout with 3 sleeping cabins.
These include a large owners cabin with a big double berth across the stern. This is an ensuite cabin.
Twin guest cabin with 2 single berths, joinery and a hand basin.
Single guest cabin with nice joinery and a hand basin.
Going down forward from the deck saloon into the galley and then on to the forecabin. This has a single berth plus a pipecot with an ensuite heads compartment.
Galley
The galley appears to be largely original except for the addition of various modern appliances. The galley is the full width of the hull with the work tops, sink and appliances to port and a large storage unit/worktop to starboard.
Heads
2 heads compartments plus a separate shower.
Aft heads is ensuite to the owners cabin but can be accessed from the passageway for use by the guests. Half size bath and electric Lavac sea toilet which discharges into a black tank.
Separate shower cubicle with a hand basin. Full height shower.
Ensuite heads for the forecabin.
