This 6 Ton Falmouth Pilot was designed by Warrington-Smythe as a smaller sister to the 9 Ton Pilot, and as with all these designs,  she was built by the Falmouth Boat Construction Company and launched in 1960.

The design was intended to offer a good value, comfortable and capable family cruising boat to enable people to get afloat without spending a fortune.  The design was very successful, offering a lot of space, volume and comfort for a boat less than 25′ length on deck.

This yacht has been with the present owners since 1995, in which time she has wintered in a shed or under her full cover every year, professionally maintained when required and sailed every season without fail.  She is a comfortable, capable and well maintained yacht. once her annual spring maintenance has been done she will be ready to go for the coming season.

With 6′ standing headroom, 4 berths and a large cockpit she is an ideal small family yacht that will get you afloat for a very reasonable sum.

Carvel planked in Pitch Pine, copper rivet fastened to steam bent oak timbers.

Sawn oak floors across the centreline with galvanised throat bolts.

External iron ballast keel with iron keel bolts.

Painted plywood deck with a painted toe rail all round.

Plywood coachroof coamings finished in gloss white externally and varnished internally.  Painted plywood coachroof deck with a raised dog house aft.  Varnish hand rails and forehatch.

Cockpit with a bridge deck and thwarts either side.  Varnished plywood thwarts and lockers.

Tiller steering with a transom hung rudder.




Mast head bermudan sloop rig on a deck stepped hollow wooden mast.  Mast new from Noble Spars in 2008.  Mounted in a galvanised tabernacle.

Varnished roller reefing boom. Alloy spinnaker pole and wooden jib pole.

Stainless steel standing rigging with bronze rigging screws to external stainless steel chain plates.

Single spreaders with a single cap shroud and twin lower shrouds.  Single standing back stay.  Hanked on headsail.

Sails include mainsail by Ratseys (2003), genoa (2006), working jib (2003) and a small jib plus a spinnaker by Crusader sails (1997).  Working sail area of 285sqft.

Pair of bottom action Tuffnell cockpit sheet winches.

Double tailed mainsheet on the aft deck.




Yanmar 2GM 18hp twin cylinder diesel installed new in 1995. Professionally winterised and serviced each year.

Centreline fixed 3 blade bronze propeller gives 5 knots cruising speed.

Stainless steel fuel tank in port cockpit locker

2 x 12 volt 110ah batteries for engine starting and domestics, charged from engine alternator.

1 manual and 1 electric bilge pump.




4 single berths with 6′ headroom in the saloon.

Steps down over the engine box with galley to starboard and chart desk to port.

Galley has a gimballed Plastimo 2 burner gas hob with a plastic sink with electrically pumped fresh water, plus a manual pump.  Storage behind under the deck head.

Chart desk to port folds down over the aft end of settee berth

Saloon has a settee berth either side with a centreline dropleaf table.

Centreline passageway going forward with bi-fold doors concealing the heads compartment to port.

Heads has a Baby Blake sea toilet  that drains directly overboard.  Stainless steel hand basin pulls out on a shelf above the heads.

Forepeak with twin V berths and standing headroom under the hatch.
