Wooden Ships Comments on this Hillyard 9 ton

Built by Hillyards of Littlehampton in 1960 to the standard centre cockpit 9 ton plans.  Her only difference now is the addition of a hard canopy in place of the spray hood giving permanent shelter in the cockpit.

Bought by the present owner in 2006 when she was lying in Littlehampton in a sorry state.  After a period of work in the yard to replace keel bolts, mast and other significant items, she was brought west and the refit work steadily continued in between summers of sailing and cruising.  Over the years she has been updated significantly with new rigging, engine and tanks in 2015, all new electronics and electrical systems and many other small additions.  She is now in great condition having had a large investment of time and money over the last 10 years with a very diligent owner.  A full list of work done in this period is available.

An expanding family has forced them to think about upgrading to a larger Hillyard which will no doubt get the same treatment as this lucky old girl.  Of the many 9 tonners out sailing this is surely one of the most solid and best equipped one available.

2016 survey available.
