Wooden Ships Comments on this Kim Holman Twister
Kim Holman designed Twister built by Cardnell Bros., Brightlingsea in 1969.
The Twister is one of Holmans most famous designs, known for being fast, fun and very capable boats. The design was so popular it went on to be produced in GRP in great numbers and is a very popular small cruising boat to this day.
Cardnell Bros. produced a small number of Twisters and are thought in some circles to be the best of the class. They differ slightly with a small rise in the coachroof aft giving a little more headroom in the galley area and making for a slightly prettier coachroof line. The quality of work turned out by Cardnell Bros. was well known so it is no surprise this is a particularly special Twister.
Understood to have won her class in the Round The Island Race some years ago, these boats have an impressive turn of speed and go to windward beautifully with perfect balance. This yacht has been upgraded in recent ownerships with a low hours Beta engine, new nav systems and a good quality rig.
A superb small cruising boat capable of classic regatta racing if desired.
