Wooden Ships Comments on the Laurent Giles 38
Built in 1981 by an experienced Cornish boat builder to a Laurent Giles design. 20 examples have been built in GRP to great acclaim and as the forerunner to the Bowman 40, and were known as superb offshore boats, fast, capable and much admired.
Built of top quality materials and incredibly strong, she appears to be in excellent structural condition and would be the boat of choice for anyone looking to sail shorthanded in comfort and safety or to cruise with a family. Thorough refit in September 2017 and again in 2020/2021 including stripping and re-painting the underwater hull, new topside paint, complete engine service, rig check, new running rigging, mostly new seacocks, new B&G nav instruments and replacement of large areas of port side deck and toe rails.
Cruised extensively by previous owners around the Mediterranean for 17 years, she has proven herself as a comfortable, capable and tough yacht. Very nicely appointed interior with 5 berths including a double forward, she has masses of storage capability below decks and full headroom throughout. Large chart desk and a well appointed galley.
This really is a very special yacht and has the feel of a proper boat when aboard her. With a very full inventory, good sails and most of the equipment required for offshore cruising she is ready to sail away on her next adventure. Detailed list of recent works available.
