Mevagissey Tosher built by Gaffers and Luggers of Mylor, Falmouth and launched in 2014.
This is the standard 20’ Mevagissey Tosher hull used by the yard and is usually fitted with a gaff rig, however the commissioning owner of this fine yacht wanted a 2 mast lug rig. The finished boat is a real head turner, able to spread a decent amount of canvas that gives her superb performance.
She is however surprisingly easy to handle. The lug rig is incredibly simple and she can be reefed down with ease so short handed/single handed sailing is no issue and the owner regularly goes out sailing on his own.
The large open cockpit is nice and deep with high coamings all round for a sense of security when at sea. She has various weather tight lockers for gear and equipment.
A very attractive looking boat with an impressive rig, kept up in nice condition. All the wood work is finished with a low maintenance stain keeping winter refit work to a minimum.
VAT paid boat complete with all the necessary paper work for RCD conformity to category C.

Construction
Hull
GRP hull finished in white gelcoat.
Encapsulated iron ballast bonded into the keel section.
Internal lead trimming ballast.
Marine plywood bulkheads fore and aft separating off the lazarette and forepeak bonded into the GRP hull.
Transom hung rudder on stainless steel hangings with a stainless tiller.
Deck
Laid teak swept decks laid on a marine plywood subdeck. GRP moulded deck beams fore and aft. Iroko capping rails all round.
Bronze fairleads fore and aft.
Iroko coamings around the cockpit.
Cockpit
Marine plywood cockpit sole sheathed in GRP. Solid iroko hatches in the cockpit sole.
Large lockers under the cockpit sole for fender stowage etc.
Sheathed marine plywood cockpit thwarts, one each side up forward with iroko tops.
Rig
2 mast lug rig on varnished spruce masts.
Varnished spruce bowsprit, bumpkin and lug yards.
Loose footed main and mizzen with 2:1 tackles on the mainsheet to a stainless horse across the aft deck.
Rigging
Pair of 7×19 stainless wire shrouds on the mizzen mast with lanyards to tension them.
Sails
Mainsail, Mizzen and jib and trysail from SKB Sails in 2014.
Machinery
Engine
Yanmar 2YM15 15hp marine diesel installed new in 2014.
Fixed 2 blade bronze propeller gives 5 knots cruising speed.
Insulated plywood engine box doubles a s seat in the cockpit.
Tanks
44 litre stainless steel fuel tank in the fore peak.
Batteries
2 x 12 volt batteries for engine starting (55ah and 60ah). Charged from the engine alternator. Located in the starboard cockpit thwart locker.
