Wooden Ships Comments on this Tore Holm Cruiser Racer
Designed by Tore Holm and built by his yard at Gamleby, Sweden in 1950.
Typical Swedish elegance with a beautiful varnished mahogany hull, long ends and a deep hull making her a very fast and incredibly satisfying boat to sail. Raced successfully by the current owner in many classic regattas over the years.
With a very impressive ballast ratio from her 3000kg ballast keel she will stand up to her canvas and the stunning underwater shape gives her a lot of grip in the water. Torre Holm was a very successful designer and skipper, drawing the lines for this yacht in his later years as a fast cruiser racer, a brief that she achieved in spades.
The boat had a complete new rig in 2010 with a new mast from Collars, but has largely been laid up undercover since that time. The hull has recently been re-varnished as has the interior.
Her Perkins engine is currently not operational and will need replacing. A second hand identical unit could be purchased and installed with minimal fuss.
A very elegant and fast cruiser racer yacht which would compete well in various classic events.
