Danish gaff ketch

Built in 1918 as a Baltic Sea fishing vessel, the boat was bought by the present owners and professionally converted to yacht in 1995. They gave her a graceful gaff ketch rig with a healthy 120sqm of sail which pushes her along well. 9 berths in a separate aft cabin, saloon and forward cabin with full headroom throughout. 155hp Volvo Penta diesel. At 49' she is a manageable yacht, easily sailed by two people. A very stable and safe ship at sea even in very rough weather, she is a beautiful example of the elegant Danish fishing boats.

Major refit in 2021 by current owner including new mast, boom, rigging and sails plus a major overhaul of the engine and complete cosmetic refit. Designed by Olin Stephens as a fast cruiser racer for the European market and originally planned for mass production in GRP. This wooden version was produced and finished by H.C. Wright in 1979 under the personal eye of Olin Stephens who came to the UK to inspect and advise on the build. Diagonal cold moulded mahogany hull, teak on ply deck new in 2008. Fin ballast keel with skeg hung rudder. Volvo Penta 30hp diesel with a sail drive. Very spacious interior due to the beam and depth in hold. Built in New York in 1934 to a design from Starling Burgess, a highly acclaimed engineer and naval architect. The design was heralded by Uffa Fox in the yachting press of the time. Her first owner wanted a seaworthy boat, easily handled by two and a fast passage maker. She was relaunched in 2015 after a total professional rebuild including a lot of planking and structural timber, new interior, engine, systems and rig. She has been cruised to the south coast and Orkney since completion and attracts attention wherever she goes. A very beautiful classic yacht in superb condition. Lifted ashore for topside paint and antifoul in June 2020.
