In the present long and very experienced ownership she has sailed to the Azores and up to Shetland. Planked in Iroko and mahogany on oak frames with a teak over plywood deck. 4 berths with good headroom. Volvo Penta 28hp diesel installed in 2009. A well thought out and comfortable sailing yacht in good solid condition.

Ice Bird was Vertue No.45, built for Dr Joe Cunningham to serve as his mobile base in remote areas of New Foundland, providing medical services to the local community. This he did in the boat after sailing across the Atlantic via the Caribbean and the eastern USA. Her design differs slightly from the standard Vertue with an altered coachroof, slightly higher topsides and a 2 spreader cutter rig. She is in effect a motor sailer but has a decent size rig and acceptable sailing performance.
