Enquire about Herreshoff Islander

Please fill in this form and we will contact you about this boat

SOLD

Designed by Sydney Herreshoff and built by Port Hamble Ltd. Herreshoff aimed to design and small, fast and easily managed but very capable keel boat, and this is exactly what the Islander is. The boats were built here and shipped back to America due to lower production costs and very few examples remained in this country. Light enough to tow behind a moderate car at 1.25 tons, easy to single hand but with a large enough cockpit for a crew. The small cabin has space for 1 or 2 berths to allow weekend camping trips and an outboard mounted over the side is there as a reliable and simple back up. A beautiful looking boat in good sound condition, in commission and being used regularly this season.

Built by the IBTC, Lowestoft in 1985 for a then student of the college. Bought by the present owner very soon after her launch and kept on the south coast ever since. A well built and very capable short handed sailing yacht, the pedigree of the Wanderer design needs no introduction. In recent years she has been a little neglected and is now in need of some refit work, mainly from fresh water damage around the coachroof. Full details of work required on request. A fine yacht in generally sound condition for reasonable money.

Enquire about Sandbanks Yacht Co. Bermudan Sloop

Please fill in this form and we will contact you about this boat

NEW

Bermudan rigged motor sailer built by the Sandbanks Yacht Co. She has a well documented history of ownership and has been in Dartmouth since 1972. The present owner had planned to carry out a major refit as his retirement boat but other projects have taken priority, so this yacht has sat ashore for a few years and now needs a new home. She is a project and needs significant work including new fore and aft decks, but she has a good rig and engine. Would make a worthwhile project for a skilled amateur and would be a perfect coastal pottering boat with relatively shallow draft and an easily handled rig.

SOLD

The 6th Peter Duck built by Porter and Haylett to the same well respected design. Not a fast boat, but very sturdy with lots of internal volume for their modest length. An easily handled split rig helped by a 35hp Beta engine makes for easy and simple cruising. 4 berths with good headroom, galley and separate heads. New engine installed in 2009, new main mast in 2011. The boat is looking a bit tired and is in need of new energy to bring her up to standard and undertake the necessary repairs.
