Wooden Ships Comments on this Cornish Day Boat
An elegant day boat designed and built by Willie John of Flushing near Falmouth in 1946.
Bought by well known Cornish boat builder Ralph Bird in in the 1980’s who had always admired her lines, he carried out a major refit of the boat and she has remained in the family ever since, now owned by Birds son. Another refit in 2009 with a new mast, rigging and sails. Recent work by Luke Powell included a new stem, sole boards and complete cosmetic overhaul.
Originally named Quiet Waters, this boat has been part of the Fal estuary her entire life and come with the current mooring if required. Elegant lines with a manageable rig, deep safe cockpit and a brand new Yamaha outboard engine. Her shallow draft with centreplate means she can be taken up the creeks and inlets, perfect for family exploration days. She could be matched with a trailer enabling her to be relocated very easily and stored at home in winter months.
