Curtis and Pape Motor Launch
Wooden Ships Comments on this Curtis and Pape Motor Launch
Designed by Curtis and Pape of Looe and built in Looe in 1962. Built as a tripping boat for the local coast, taking tourists on fishing and dive trips. Typical of the boats being built in this area at the time, these boats are very seaworthy and capable with a large open aft deck with high gunwhales making them perfect for family use.
Bought by the present owner and kept in Cornwall, used around Fowey and Falmouth for family summer trips. Given a major refit between 2019-2021 including te following work:
- New planking as required
- New frames as required
- New aft cockpit bulkhead
- New aft teak on plywood deck
- New cockpit sole boards
- New oak stem
- New rudder
- New wheelhouse roof
- Vetus 52hp engine fitted with new shaft, prop and stern tube
- New navigation instruments
- New all over fitted cover
This is a very attractive motor launch with an excellent engine offering more than enough power to cope with any sea conditions. Her all over fitted cover is a great addition keeping the boat dry and protected, stopping the sun damaging the varnish and generally reducing the amount of winter maintenance required by protecting the boat from the elements.
