Haven 12.5 designed by Joel White, based on the Herreshoff 12 ½ design.
The design, named after it’s waterline length of 12’6” is wider in the beam than the original and has a centreboard making them suitable for trailer sailing and able to access shallow waters.
This boat was built by the owner over a 4 year period and launched in 2010. The build was overseen by a local Falmouth shipwright, lending an ear and words of advice where necessary. The result is a very nice little boat with the exceptional lines that these Havens are known for.
Ill health in the family meant the boat has spent several years ashore undercover and she will need a little fettling before launch.
Complete with road trailer and rig.

Construction
Cold moulded cedar strip plank hull, bonded with epoxy.
Steamed timbers throughout screw fastened to the hull.
Laminated oak stem and centreline with a varnished teak transom.
External lead ballast keel fastened with bronze bolts.
Centreboard raised with a rope through the top of the centreboard box.
Sawn timbe floors across the centreline with throat bolts passing through.
Oak deck beams with a marine plywood subdeck and a yacht laid teak deck bonded over the top.
Varnished mahogany rubbing strakes and toe rails.
Varnished mahogany cockpit coamings with oak thwarts and douglas fir sole boards.

Gaff sloop rig on varnished douglas fir mast and spars.
Stainless steel standing rigging to internal stainless chain plates.
Cream mainsail and headsail.
