Wooden Ships comments on this Iain Oughtred Fulmar Sailing Dinghy
Iain Oughtred Fulmar sailing dinghy professionally built in New Zealand in 2000.
The largest and most capable of Oughtreds planning dinghies, her generous beam and wide flat stern enable her to plan in the right wind conditions making her a fast boat but also stable and safe.
The Fulmar is a sturdy and capable boat, perfect for the dinghy cruising enthusiast with her good freeboard and generous beam making the design very Weatherly and capable.
Built with slight variations to the design, including the sunken foredeck which is a clever tweak, allowing someone to move to the bow more safely than if the deck was at gunwhale height.
Bought by the present owner in 2020 and given a gentle refit including a complete new paint system of Epifanes 2 pack epoxy glass for a low maintenance hull. All bright work newly finished in Deks Olje D1 and D2.
Standing rigging replaced with Dyneema and running rigging replaced.
Complete package ready to go with an excellent trailer and new all over cover. This is a boat that will allow her owner to enjoy the summer weather in the purest and simplest way.
Torqeedo electric outboard motor with all accessories available by separate negotiation.
