Cedar strip Canadian canoe built to the Prospector design by Selway Fisher. Built by the current owner in 2021.
A high quality build, finished to a very good standard and in as new condition, she has never been launched.
The Prospector canoe design originated from the types of canoes used by prospectors and trappers in Canada who needed to haul large loads up and down the rivers. The hull shape is designed to be fast and easily manoeuvred, but also stable with a high volume and load carry capability.
The weight of the canoe is just 31.4kg meaning she can be easily carried by one person.
The hull is constructed from Cedar strip planks with an epoxy glass sheathing inside and out, making her very light, rigid and durable requiring minimal maintenance.
A wonderful opportunity to own a brand new and very beautiful canoe built to a very high standard, absolutely ready to be used this spring.

Construction
Strip plank hull using light and dark western red cedar strips, glued together with no staples.
Hull has been sheathed in epoxy glass cloth inside and out for a durable finish using West System epoxy.
Finished with Epifanes yacht varnish inside and out.
Stems are made from laminated ash with an iroko deck inlaid with ash. Brass rubbing strip on each stem.
Ash rubbing strake full length. Scuppered ash inwhale with walnut inserts.
2 seats are made from ash with canework centres.
