Full specification

Wooden Ships Comments on this Dragon class keelboat

A Dragon in need of restoration.  She has been laid up sheltered from the elements for many years and is need of a complete rebuild.

The hull seems to have kept her shape with the sheer line intact.

The hull planking is relatively fair but the backbone and centreline structure has dried out considerably.

Construction

Planked in larch all copper fastened to steamed oak timbers.

Seams are splined in the topsides, possibly below the waterline but not confirmed.

Cast iron ballast keel

Rig

Usual dragon rig on a keel stepped wooden mast.  Mast appears to be intact with all fittings and rigging.
