Beer lugger built by H.J. Mears and Son in 1985 with a thorough professional refit in 2021.
The refit included a new aft deck and necessary hull repairs around that area, new sole bearers, engine rebuild and building of a new galvanised road trailer to accompany the boat. She is now a complete package, on her trailer and ready to tow away.
Typical Beer lugger design with generous freeboard and beam and full bilge sections, designed to be launched and recovered on the beach for fishing in the open sea around Beer in east Devon. A very tough and capable boat with elegant lines, professionally built and refitted.
The addition of the lug rig adds another dimension rather than being a simple motor launch, she can be sailed successfully if desired. She will also work as an excellent motor launch, ideal for river exploration but also very capable of coastal passages.

Construction
Clinker planked in pine, all copper rivet fastened to steam bent oak timbers.
Oak stem and keel with a mahogany transom.
Varnished mahogany aft and forward thwarts.
Normal Mears central drop thwart comprising a large oak knee either side and a transverse timber under the sol to provide rigidity without a thwart to impede movement around the boat.
Pine inwhale with a mahogany capping rail.
Plywood aft deck and plywood bulkhead.
Transom hung rudder on a sliding stainless steel hanging system to allow the rudder to be lifted when coming into shore.

Standing lug rig on a keel stepped varnished wooden mast.
Hollow alloy lug yard.
Loose footed mainsail in tan terylene.
Machinery
Beta Marine 10hp twin cylinder diesel, rebuilt in 2021 and appears as new.
Single lever controls to a centreline fixed 3 blade bronze propeller
Plastic 33 litre fuel tank under the aft deck with water separator fuel filter.
Single 12 volt battery charged from the engine alternator.
Equipment
Custom built galvanised road trailer with spare wheel, new in 2021.
