Wooden Ships Comments
Clinker dinghy built by JJ Bickford of Topsham, Devon in the 1960’s.
At first glance it looks as though she would have had a rig, however she was clearly designed as a rowing boat able to carry an outboard. The small foredeck gives some dry sheltered space for belongings and she has enough seating for 6 people.
She is small enough that she can be easily launched and retrieved and will fit in a standard garage, however the generous beam means she has a lot of space and stability for a boat of her size.
She is currently in need of a refit and would suit an enthusiastic amateur. The planking and frames are all in reasonable condition but the gunnels and foredeck are poor.
Length 12’10”
Beam 5’2″
Construction
Clinker planked in mahogany all copper rivet fastened to steam bent oak timbers.
Mahogany transom and thwarts.
Plywood foredeck in poor condition
Slatted sole boards
