Wooden Ships Comments on this Converted Tug Boat

Built in Papendrecht, Holland in 1915 as a steam tug.  Converted some years ago and refurbished by the current professional shipwright owner for use on the European canals.  She has been an excellent cruising home for the couple who own her, providing comfortable accommodation on a very sturdy and capable vessel.

Her history has been well documented, built for a shipping company of the same name, Risico, she was one of 4 identical tugs towing oil barges around the canals and rivers of Holland.  She worked as a tug boat until 1974 in Dutch waters although her original steam engine was replaced with diesel in the late 1940’s when she changed hands.  She continued to work pulling general cargo barges until 1974 when she had her first light conversion and spent 10 years as a charter fishing vessel.  After this she went into private ownership and has been a cherished and well maintained private yacht ever since.

Her lay out is largely as it would have been in her working days although the interior fit out and joinery has been designed for comfortable live aboard cruising.

Perfect boat for the canals with her shallow draft but equally capable of coastal cruising.
