Wooden Ships Comments on this Laurent Giles Vertue

Vertue No. 188,  built by the first owner and launched in 1993.  She has spent much of her life laid up ashore with only three owners, the first two of which hardly used her.  The Laurent Giles Vertue gained a huge reputation as a seaworthy, pretty and comfortable yacht, with many examples having sailed to all corners of the globe.  This particular boat is based on the Ocean model with a slightly different doghouse giving good space below decks but able to take significant weather.

Her rig is based in the Vertue No.1, Andrillot, a gaff cutter with a pole deck stepped mast.

The present owner has made many changes to the rig and interior which have improved the boat enormously, however her main structure is original and in very good order.

She has been a very successful family boat and has been lavished with attention and investment in the present ownership which is why she is now such a smart, crisp and well set up yacht.  An expanding family has forced thoughts of a bigger yacht, hence the sale.
