The Rummer Yawl was deisgned by Kim Holman for himself, and although not specifically meant for racing, the design did very well in the early years against supposedly faster boats. With shallower draft, more beam and a lower aspect rig than was common at the time, it was unconventional design that proved very popular. Designed by David Cooper of Holman and Pye, built by Whisstocks in 1964. Major refit in previous ownership with new engine, wiring and systems. An interesting concept for the design, she offers a lot of comfortable space for her length with a large cockpit, comfortable interior with good headroom and comfortable berths. The rig is small for her size so she relies on the engine in light airs but it is easily managed. Her shallow draft of only 3' allows access to inland areas off limits to deeper boats. She was built in 1938 and given away as a prize in the yacht clubs raffle in 1939, won by a Scottish sailor who brought her home to Scotland where she has been ever since. Cruised on the west coast of Scotland for the last 30 years, she has been maintained to a good standard and recently had a spring refit ready for the summer season. 4 berths with heads and galley.
