Wooden Ships Comments on this Wootton Bridge Sailing dinghy

Clinker sailing dinghy designed and built by Wootton Bridge Industries Ltd on the Isle of Wight.  Order and built for the current owner, she was used a handful of times in Suffolk, Norfolk and the west of Scotland.  She has spent her latter years stored inside a garage without being used and appears to be in very fine condition showing very few signs of use.

Built to a very high standard and comes complete with everything required for sailing, including a road trailer in good condition.

Construction

Clinker planked in 5/16” (8mm) South American mahogany, copper rivet fastened to steam bent oak timbers at 8” centres.

Iroko stem and keel with a mahogany transom with a bronze sheet horse across the top.

Iroko gunwhales and rubbing strake.

Varnished mahogany thwarts.

Marine plywood centreboard box with an epoxy coated mild steel centreplate.

Pine sole boards.

Mahogany drop plate rudder.

 

Rig

Gunter sloop rig on a keel stepped varnished Columbian pine mast, boom and gunter yard.

3mm stainless steel standing rigging to internal bronze chain plates.

Jack Holt blocks with 3 strand running rigging.

Tan terylene sails with gunter main of 75sqft and jib of 26sqft
