A superb Westcountry fishing lugger built in 2004 on the lines of a traditional and well known pilchard driver that fished out of Mousehole, Cornwall. Larch planking on steamed oak timbers. Iroko deck. Diesel electric propulsion system. 2 masted lug rig with carbon fibre yards. This is a very nice little boat, put together with top quality materials and very good craftsmanship she is as good as the day she was launched. Just finished a cosmetic refit she is absolutely ready to go.

Constructed using the popular Kiwi technique of triple skin Kauri pine with two diagonal layers and a horizontally planked outer layer to give and incredibly string and robust hull. This boat has incredible 2 1/2" hull thickness. Powerful bermudan cutter rig with roller furling genoa. Modern Volvo Penta 50Hp diesel. 5 berths with large double fore cabin, 1 pilot and 2 setee berths. The Merle gives the feel of a very competent little yacht with some interesting features typical of John Illingworth, one of this country’s most experienced off-shore yacht racers.
