McNulty rowing dinghy

Wooden Ships Comments on this McNulty rowing dinghy

McNulty dinghy built for the late owner, build number  2543.  The boat has been stored indoors its entire life as a static exhibit, never launched and is in immaculate as new condition.

McNulty dinghies were built to a very high standard and this is no different using choice materials with a high level of finish.  Her lines are exquisite with an elegant sheer and a fullness in the bilge which will give her buoyancy and stability.

Fully equipped with a road trailer, cover and oars.  She also has lifting eyes and a bridle which have been used to hang her in the roof but would serve equally well to sling her in davits on the side of a larger yacht.  A unique one of a kind dinghy.

Sennen Cove Lugger

Wooden Ships Comments on this Sennen Cove Lugger

Built by the Falmouth Marine School in 2004, one of a number of these boats built by students under the supervision of professional shipwrights.

The design is a replica of a Sennen Cove crabber from 1892 which means she is a solid, stable and capable sea boat.  The original working boats fished for crab and lobster off Lands End with trips to the Isles of Scilly in fair weather, this was a harsh environment and these boats were designed and built to withstand everything the sea could throw at them.

With inboard engines,  a 2 mast lug rig and a large open deck she is a versatile little vessel.  Although heavy and solid, the boat is light enough to be towed on the road behind a suitably sized vehicle.

In present ownership she has had a thorough refit between 2019 and now, including an engine overhaul and new gearbox, new sole boards and bearers, a new foremast, new wiring and a complete cosmetic refit.  She is now in smart and solid condition, ready to be sailed.

A well built and sturdy launch which had a thorough refitin the previous ownership and has been well cared for in the last few years.  Excellent structural and cosmetic condition, she has just been launched and is in regular use by the owners.

The large beam means she is a very stable launch with a lot of carrying capacity for her length, but at only  16′ long she is suitable for dinghy berths and landing pontoons making her a very useable river launch.

Salmon Netting Rowing Boat

Wooden Ships Comments on this Salmon Netting Rowing Boat

Built in Padstow in 1977 as a Salmon net boat.  She has been in same family her entire life, used for Salmon fishing on the Camel Estuary in Cornwall until 2017 when she was laid up.

A substantially built boat with good beam and plenty of buoyancy, wide in the stern which stops her sitting low in the water when being sculled.

Generally a sound boat, well built and with a nice history, she will need a little tidying but would make a lovely family boat.

North Quay 19

Wooden Ships Comments on this North Quay 19

Built by North Quay Marine in 2008 to a Ted Spears design, the largest in the range of open day boats built by North Quay at the time.

Bought by the present owner in 2016 from the first owner who had had the boat maintained to a very high standard as the boat was frequently used by North Quay as a display boat at shows and festivals.  In 2017 she had work done to the deck, complete re-varnish and a professional re-spray of the topsides.

The North Quay 19 is a very clever design resulting in a versatile, capable but easy to sail day boat, with a huge cockpit giving space for 6 adults while sailing but also offering quite exciting performance, especially when sailing off the wind.

The trailer sailer concept is more popular now than ever before, and with a total weight of less than 1.5 tons she can be towed behind a moderate sized family car making her very versatile.  Storing a boat at home over the winter and even being able to launch on a slipway will reduce yearly running costs enormously while still having a very pretty and fun boat to sail.

Her accommodation is limited but she can sleep 4 adults under the camping awning giving scope for family weekends away.  Her exceptionally shallow draft with the centreplate up allows access to the heads of the creeks where nobody else will be anchored overnight.

A very smart and well kept example of this popular day boat, complete with everything required to get sailing immediately.

Francois Vivier Aber

Wooden Ships Comments

Built to the Aber design by renowned French naval architect Francois Vivier, he first conceived the design in 1985 with inspiration from the Breton working boats.  She is designed as a fast boat for up to 3 people, fun to sail with superb looks and easy to launch on and off a trailer.  The bow sections were made more full than some of his earlier designs to give more buoyancy and better sea keeping.  The powerful lug rig makes this a very fast little boat with a high peak yard typical of the Breton working boats.

This particular boat was professionally built for the current owner in 1994 by John Moody of Traditional Sail in Salcombe.  Moody built a small number of Abers around this time and they have become highly sought after for their exceptional build quality.  This boat was commissioned by the owner to celebrate the Douarnenez 1992 festival of the sea and is aptly named Dz.

This boat, Dz, was chosen by Classic Boat magazine as one of their top 150 designs of all time in the 150th edition of the magazine, it is not hard to see why when looking at the beautiful lines and finish on this particular boat.

She has been dry stored all her life and comes with a very good quality road trailer and is complete and ready to tow away.  A very special boat in exceptional condition.
