She was built for an English owner and has spent most of her life on the south coast where she developed a formidable reputation in various regattas. Charmian was built by Uphams in Brixham on the lines of a Brixham Sailing Trawler but launched as a yacht for a wealthy owner. The interior fit out was completed by Camper and Nicholson to a very high standard. She has a recent Beta 150hp engine so she is mobile under her own steam. Gaff yawl designed by Albert Strange and built in 1907 in Belfast. Typical of the designs from Strange with a canoe stern, yawl rig and a sweet sheer line.
