Iain Oughtred Grebe dinghy built by the owner in 1998.
The Grebe is an attractive dinghy that is easily rowed by one or two people. The design is also a delight to sail, this boat has a standing lug rig on an unstayed mast so is particularly easy to rig up and handle. The sail is loose footed so there is no boom to hit unsuspecting children across the head.
Complete with 2 pairs of oars, rig and road trailer. A very attractive boat that is easy to maintain and a joy to use, the perfect solution to getting afloat simply yet in a proper looking boat.
27’ clinker rowing skiff built by either Salters or Eton in the 1920’s for Shrewsbury School and the house of Severn Hill in particular. The house colours of maroon and French gray are used throughout the boat and her components.
Found about 30 years ago by the present retired boat builder in a very poor state and close to being put on the bonfire. Rebuilt to a very high standard but retaining as much of the original structure as possible. The planking and centreline are original but 50% of the frames and floors have been renewed and the whole boat finished in gloss varnish inside and out.
She comes with a specialist trailer or ‘mobile boathouse’, previously used for transporting a glider. This extraordinary trailer houses the boat and keeps her completely dry and safe, making for very easy transport and storage. The boat and trailer weigh less than 750kg so are easily towed behind most cars.
The trailer has racking for carrying the oars, tools and spares. A trolley system inside the trailer makes it a simple affair to take the boat in and out. The boat also has a custom made wooden trolley to move the boat around on when she is out of the trailer. This trolley means she can be easily launched on a slipway if needed.
A totally unique set up that is ready to tow away and use. A real piece of history, lovingly restored and all in superb condition. Will be on show at the Thames Traditional Boat Festival in July 2023.

This refit was completed in 2009/2010 with all new decks and repairs to the hull. The boat was then laid up in a shed and hardly used until the current owner purchased her a few years later.

Wooden Ships Comments on this Robertsons of Woodbridge Rowing Dinghy
10’ rowing dinghy built by Robertsons of Woodbridge in 1968 for the London Boatshow.
In present ownership for 50 years, she has only ever had 2 owners.

A stable boat that rows nicely, reasonably full in the bows giving her good buoyancy but fine in the aft sections making her slip nicely through the water.
Wooden Ships Comments On This Iain Oughtred Auk Sailing Dinghy
Iain Oughtred Auk sailing dinghy built by the owner in 2022. West System epoxy glued hull with hardwood transom, centreline and gunwhales.
Fitted with a standing lug rig which easy to set up and handle.
The Auk was designed by Oughtred as a practical yet pretty tender, capable of carrying significant loads but is still a delight to row and sails nicely. She can take a small outboard as well very comfortably.
Due to the construction this boat is very light so is easy to move around or lift on an off a large yacht if she is to be a tender.
Wooden Ships Comments on this Varnished River Launch
Built in 1950 by Allday Austin, Guildford as a work vessel for the River Way Conservancy.
Major professional refit in last 3 years with extensive areas of new planking and lots of new oak timbers. Work carried out by a very experienced shipwright who has worked on the Thames for many years.
Now based on the Thames, she has a new Boat Safety Certificate and a 10 month River Thames licence included with the sale so should a new owner wish to continue using her on the Thames, she is absolutely ready for this summer.
The boat is complete with a very nice twin axle road trailer, cockpit cover, winter cover and all recent upholstery.
A very smart and attractive launch ready for the season ahead.
Wooden Ships Comments on this 14′ Clinker Motor Launch
Built by Pasco and Sons of St Just in Roseland, Cornwall in 1964.
Refitted by the previous owner with new garboards, replacement engine and some new steamed oak timbers. Used regularly in present ownership every summer on the Dart, she has been perfect for pottering up and down the river as well as exploring around the local coasts.#
Recently the engine has given trouble and the engineer has said it is not economical to repair. The boat is being sold as a project for a new owner to fit a replacement Bukh DV10, another diesel or even an outboard on the transom.
Wooden Ships Comments on this E. J. Burt & Sons Sailing Dinghy
Built by well know Cornish boatyard E.J. Burt and Sons based in Falmouth. This yard started in 1930 and it is believed this is one of their early boats so will be nearly 100 years old.
Rebuilt by D. Penrose Shipwright between 2007-2008 for the late owner.
Kept by the late owner in Mousehole for many years and used for sailing around Mounts Bay with a bit of fishing and exploring.
She has sat ashore in a shed now for several years so will no doubt need some attention before going afloat. She had a thorough refit around 2012 and has only been used for a few seasons since that time
Complete with rig, oars and trailer this is a little gem of Cornish maritime history that deserves the attention of someone who will care for and use her. The boat retains her original name, She’ll Do.

This is a lovely 27’ wood epoxy gaff cutter that is shortly going to be cut up if a new owner is not found. She can be had for virtually free and is an excellent boat with a lifting centreboard. Known to be fast and very seaworthy. Some areas of delamination of the sheathing in isolated areas but certainly not a wreck. It would be a shame to have her disposed of. Currently ashore in Plymouth. Contact the broker Liberty Yachts if interested www.libertyyachts.co.uk/brokerage/... See MoreSee Less
